Thailand Track Days

Track days; exciting, adrenalin pumping, action-packed fun with a choice of Formula Racing Car or Sports Bike depending on your persuasion. Track days in Thailand are little known and sparsely attended by comparison and yet they offer a unique, action-packed experience; after-all, how often are you let loose on a race track in a Formula Racing Car?

Thailand’s mainstream activities are well documented and few visitors to Thailand leave unaware that they could have enjoyed an elephant trek or visited a hill tribe village but what about those activities that are going to seriously get your heart racing, that are guaranteed to paste the widest smile across your face whilst scaring you senseless at times as well?

Track days offer that type of experience but in Europe and America they tend to be begrudgingly relegated to the “huge fun but not too often” list of lifestyle pursuits because of the costs involved. In Thailand, track days are significantly cheaper, the weather is guaranteed (it will be hot) as is the fun factor which can extend way into the evenings as well.

More to the point though is that to attend track days in Thailand, be it in a formula racing car or on a bike, training is provided on-site. Hence if you want to see whether riding sports bikes is for you, you are welcome. If you are a seasoned sports bike rider and track enthusiast you will be in seventh heaven or if you have to see, just once, what it is like to drive a Formula Racing car full training is given before you are unleashed onto the track to realise your once-in-a-lifetime experience.

Who attends track days?

Track days in Thailand attract a mixed bunch spanning nationalities and the demographic spectrum from Bangkok Expats to Corporate Hospitality Groups, extreme sport junkies to people seeking once-in-a-lifetime driving experiences.

From a few hours to a day or multi-day programmes, track days in Thailand appeal to people looking for an extreme motorsports time-filler, an escape out of Bangkok or a highlight within an overall Thailand trip plan. All equipment can be hired but if you do have your own motorcycle helmet, bring it along – you know where its been!

Where is the best Race Track in Thailand?

Thailand’s best and internationally accredited race track is located close to Pattaya on Thailand’s Eastern seaboard and about an hour and a half out of Bangkok by car. If you are interested in experiencing a single track day in Thailand transfers can be arranged from either Bangkok or Pattaya, whichever you would prefer. For multi-day driving experiences a hotel in Pattaya would be more convenient.

The circuit regularly hosts Thai Touring car championship rounds and is Thailand’s premier circuit and destination for track days. Seasoned racers rate the circuit as “technical” as the many different corners constantly present new challenges and opportunities to practise technique. Old hands vouch that if you are fast around this track you will be fast anywhere!

Formula Racing Car Driving Experience

This is the real McCoy! The Renault Formula Racing Cars are running on slick tyres and are powered by a 165Hp, 2,000cc Renault engine that revs to 7,500rpm and has a top speed of 230kmh (over 140 miles per hour).

A one of a kind in Southeast Asia, you attend a professionally run race car driving school, complete with fully licensed instructors and high safety standards. The emphasis is on cost effective, safe excitement and fun. But it also has a serious side for those who really want to learn how to race any type of car.

Each course has a low driver-to-instructor ratio to ensure that drivers receive fast-track and personalised tuition to maximise your cockpit time. The minimum age is 16 and courses are geared to cater for men or women whether they are focused on serious car racing and track days, interested in recreational car racing or an Executive Group or individual seeking spice and entertainment.

Open all-year-round and always under the watchful supervision of qualified and licensed instructors, course duration extends from two hours to two days. The two-hour course is literally a taste of motorsports, an experience. Following a briefing you learn racing lines by following an instructor car.

For a more comprehensive experience opt for the one-day course in which you learn heel & toe gear changing techniques and complete 18 laps of the track; a high performance, extreme sport day in every respect. But if one day doesn’t satiate your appetite there is a two day professional driving experience option which culminates in an “as many sessions as you can drive” drive-off.

Sports Bike Track Days & Driving Experience in Thailand

You are aboard a Suzuki GSXR-750’s all with upgraded brakes, 520 chain conversion, race suspension set up, race can, track rubber and most have Ohlins shocks and springs. Despite lacking the extra 250cc of its bigger brother these are grunty machines which have a reputation for being easy to ride with superb steering and a flat torque curve, the latter creating controllable power.

The onus is on getting you out onto the track as quickly as possible on a bike that you can quickly get used to no matter what your track experience. The Suzuki GSXR-750’s constant delivery of power throughout the rev range guarantees that you wont spend your valuable days having to get used to the bike’s nuances but instead are out there riding and enjoying your motorbike track days in Thailand.

Choose from a half day to one full-day or a complete 3-day package all with one-to-one tuition and unlimited track time. There are not many places in the world where you can be on the track at 9.30am and stay there till dusk!
